Tourism as an attitude

When people visit a city they don’t have to traverse daily while going to work, school or another appointment they take the time to look around and take in the city.

This is often difficult to do in the city that is mostly a backdrop for the more mundane activities in life and locations that are often passed are not regarded as stimulating. Despite this, there is a lot still to discover, and Locus Focus tries to accommodate this. Locus focus tries to put forward a new backdrop for the city by presenting electronic compositions from local artists.

There are three main reasons for visiting the own city as a tourist. Firstly, the pandemic has made travel a lot more difficult through restrictions, which already has lead to re-evaluation of the own city. Apart from that two main arguments can be made for the environment: traveling and especially long-distance flights are very harmful to the environment and many tourist attractions are not built to resist the heavy wear they experience as a result of mass tourism.

We have to move away from a been-there-done-that mentality and visit the own city as a tourist. If your own perception is not exciting enough to warrant a re-evaluation, use Locus Focus to view locations to the eyes of an artist and think about the connection between sound and place.
